About us

Your Safety is Our Mission

At our core, we prioritise safety and excellence in every training program. Our accredited trainers bring years of experience, ensuring you receive practical, hands-on instruction in modern vehicles. We are dedicated to building trust with our clients and helping you gain the skills you need to succeed in heavy vehicle and forklift operations.

Our History: Built on Skill, Safety and High Risk Work Expertise

Advanced Heavy Vehicle Driver Training Centre (AHVDTC) grew from a foundation of industry-leading High Risk Work training. Our story began in 1999 with the establishment of Australia Wide Forklift Training Centre (AWFTC), providing high-quality licensing for warehousing and construction equipment across Victoria. As demand grew for professional, safety-focused driver training, we expanded in 2006 to form AHVDTC — a dedicated centre specialising in heavy vehicle licence training.

Recognising the essential role that skilled operators play in transport and logistics, we developed a comprehensive suite of heavy vehicle programs covering Light Rigid through to Multi-Combination licences. Our purpose-built Tullamarine facility has since become one of Victoria’s most trusted hubs for both heavy vehicle and High Risk Work training.

Today, our training combines classroom learning with extensive hands-on experience, giving trainees the confidence to operate safely across real-world driving environments. As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), accredited by VicRoads and WorkSafe Victoria, we deliver nationally recognised qualifications and industry-approved licence outcomes.

For more than two decades, we’ve supported thousands of students in launching or advancing their driving careers and helped businesses across Melbourne upskill their workforce to meet industry and compliance standards.

A New Chapter with Stay Upright

In September 2025, AHVDTC and AWFTC proudly joined the Stay Upright family  Australia’s largest and most established motorcycle training provider. Founded in 1981 and operating across Queensland, NSW, Victoria, ACT and Tasmania, Stay Upright’s 200+ instructors deliver training at 29 locations, guiding more than 60,000 riders every year.

This partnership strengthens our shared mission: to improve safety outcomes across Australia’s transport and logistics sectors. By uniting heavy vehicle, forklift and High Risk Work training with Stay Upright’s national safety framework, we now form part of Australia’s most comprehensive transport safety education network.

Our Enhanced Future

As part of the Stay Upright group, AHVDTC continues to deliver the personalised, practical training we’re known for — now supported by expanded resources, enhanced technology, and an even broader range of nationally recognised training options.

Our instructors bring decades of real-world industry experience and remain committed to delivering hands-on, safety-first education in both heavy vehicle and High Risk Work operations. Backed by Stay Upright’s systems, innovation and continuous improvement culture, our trainees benefit from the strongest training infrastructure in Australia.

Whether you’re beginning a career in transport, upgrading your heavy vehicle licence, or seeking forklift or High Risk Work certification, our programs ensure you gain not only the required competencies for licencing but also the advanced safety awareness and operational confidence essential to long-term success.
