Training is delivered by experienced instructors at our Tullamarine Training Centre. You’ll complete essential pre-reading and a short workbook, then put your knowledge into action with guided practical exercises before undertaking assessment. Successful participants receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for Operate Elevating Work Platform (under 11m) (RIIHAN301E), accepted across Australia.

While a High Risk Work (WP) licence is not required for scissor lifts under 11 metres in Victoria, employers must ensure operators are trained and competent. This course provides the competency and evidence of training you need, quickly and professionally.

  • Must provide one primary proof of photo ID (Keypass, Passport, Australian Drivers Licence) 
  • Applicants must be aged 18 years or older 
  • Basic English literacy, numeracy and digital skills at a level sufficient to read and interpret workplace documentation. You must complete a language, literacy, numeracy and digital assessment as part of the enrolment process
  • Must have the physical capacity to undertake the practical training and assessment components
  • USI that can be verified to ensure release of Statement of Attainment
  • Study Materials: This course requires you to complete the study guide workbook questions before your course date and bring them with you on day one. This is provided at time of booking.

On successful completion of the training, you will receive a Statement of Attainment for Nationally Recognised Training (NRT) RIIHAN301E Operate elevating work platformalong with a plastic wallet card (Yellow Card/Operator card). 

As part of getting a licence to operate this type of equipment in Victoria, you will enroll in the Operate Elevating Work Platform (under 11m) (RIIHAN301E) to obtain a Statement of Attainment upon successful completion of your course.

By undertaking Nationally Recognised Training (NRT) you will need to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI) that gives you access to your online USI account that contains all your nationally recognised training records. The main benefit of the USI is that you will have easy access to your training records and results throughout your life.
 
International Students:
 
If you are on a visa, you must be legally allowed to train without breaching your visa conditions. Any course undertaken by a student visa holder, whether it is a primary course or additional study, must be registered on CRICOS (except for the LF unit – TLILIC0003 Licence to operate a forklift truck). This unit (RIIHAN301E) is not registered on CRICOS, and we are not a CRICOS provider. Please verify your visa conditions before enrolling to ensure you can undertake this training without breaching your visa requirements.
 
Qualification pathways:
 
This unit of competency can contribute to Certificate qualifications from the RII Training Package or other plant-related units such as TLILIC0005 – Licence to operate a boom-type elevating work platform (boom length 11 metres or more).
 
Vocational pathways:
 
Obtaining this unit of competency will allow individuals to enter the warehousing and logistics industries and commercial sites where elevated platforms (scissor lifts) are used.

I had training for my HR license, and Alex was my trainer. He was very helpful and did an excellent job explaining the rules and providing clear guidance on road safety. What is the Scissor Lift course?

This half-day course teaches you to safely operate elevating work platforms (scissor lifts) under 11 metres. Upon successful completion, you’ll receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for RIIHAN301E – Operate elevating work platform (under 11 metres), along with a Yellow Card/Operator Card.

You’ll master safe scissor lift operation including pre-operational checks, hazard identification and risk controls, equipment controls and attachments, planning and preparation, workplace health and safety compliance, operator maintenance, and safe work area management.

This course (RIIHAN301E) is a Unit of Competency for operating scissor lifts and elevating work platforms under 11 metres – no licence is required for these platforms in Victoria. The WP licence (TLILIC0005) is a High Risk Work licence course for boom-type elevating work platforms 11 metres or more. If you’re operating larger boom-type platforms, you need the WP licence.

This qualification enables you to work in warehousing and logistics, construction sites, maintenance roles, and any commercial environment where scissor lifts under 11 metres are used.
