On successful completion, you’ll receive a Statement of Attainment (TLILIC0004 – Licence to operate an Order Picking Forklift Truck) and your WorkSafe Victoria Notice of Assessment that can be used to apply for your licence online.

- Using different types of order picker forklift trucks with a range of fuel/power sources
- Inspecting the site and the order picker forklift (including pre-start, planning, post-start and post-operational checks)
- Order Picker Forklift attachments and controls
- Data plates/load charts
- Load centre and centre of gravity
- Travel speed and visibility
- Safe operating techniques & exercises (including lifting, lowering and positioning loads correctly; stacking into racks, stacks, containers and truck trays travelling with and without loads; travelling on ramps/slopes)
- Safe shutdown and parking
- Safety of other personnel
Learning outcome
- A Statement of Attainment (TLILIC0004 – Licence to operate an Order Picking Forklift Truck)
- WorkSafe Victoria Notice of Assessment that is a temporary licence valid for 60 days
Prerequisites and entry requirements
- Must provide one primary proof of photo ID (Keypass, Passport, Australian Drivers Licence)
- Applicants must be aged 18 years or older
- Applicants must be a resident of Victoria
- Basic English, literacy and numeracy skills at a level sufficient to read and interpret workplace documentation. You must complete a language, literacy and numeracy assessment as part of the enrolment process
- Must have the physical capacity to undertake the practical training and assessment components
- Study Materials: This course requires you to complete the study guide workbook questions before your course date and bring them with you on day one. This is provided at time of booking
- USI that can be verified to ensure release of Statement of Attainment
Nationally Recognised Training Qualification
As part of getting an Order Picking Forklift licence to operate this type of equipment in Victoria, you will enroll in the Unit TLILIC0004 – Licence to operate an order picking forklift truck to obtain a Statement of Attainment upon successful completion of your course.
By undertaking Nationally Recognised Training (NRT) you will need to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI) that gives you access to your online USI account that contains all your nationally recognised training records. The main benefit of the USI is that you will have easy access to your training records and results throughout your life.
International Students:
If you are on a visa, you must be legally allowed to train without breaching your visa conditions. Any course undertaken by a student visa holder, whether it is a primary course or additional study, must be registered on CRICOS (except for the LF unit – TLILIC0003 Licence to operate a forklift truck). This unit (TLILIC0009) is not registered on CRICOS, and we are not a CRICOS provider. Please verify your visa conditions before enrolling to ensure you can undertake this training without breaching your visa requirements.
Qualification pathways:
This unit of competency can contribute to Certificate qualifications from the Transport and Logistics Training Package or other warehousing and logistics qualifications.
Vocational pathways:
Obtaining this unit of competency will allow individuals to apply for a WorkSafe Victoria LO High Risk Work licence to operate order picking forklift trucks and work in warehousing, distribution centres, logistics, e-commerce fulfilment, and various industries requiring order picking operations (but not restricted to these industries) if they wish after obtaining their licence.

Are there any medical requirements?
You must be physically capable of operating machinery and working at heights. Do I need a USI?
Yes. A valid USI is required to issue your Statement of Attainment. Create or retrieve one at usi.gov.au.

Do I need to bring my own equipment?
No, all specialised order picker equipment is provided during training.
What should I bring on the day?
Bring your completed workbook, photo ID, and wear appropriate clothing for practical training including closed-toe shoes (preferably steel-cap boots), long pants, and a high-visibility vest if you have one (otherwise provided).
When do I receive my course materials?
Course study materials are issued at the time of booking. You must complete the pre-reading and workbook before your scheduled training to maximise your hands-on practical time.
Is parking available?
Yes, free parking is available at our Tullamarine Training Centre.
What certification will I receive?
You’ll receive a Statement of Attainment for TLILIC0004 (Licence to operate an order picking forklift truck), nationally recognised across Australia. This enables you to apply to WorkSafe Victoria for your LO High Risk Work licence.
What if I don't pass on the day?
We’ll provide feedback and discuss reassessment options. Additional training or assessment fees may apply.
Do I need a licence to operate an order picker in Victoria?
Yes, a WorkSafe Victoria LO (Order Picking) High Risk Work licence is required for all order picker operators in Victoria. This course provides the nationally recognised training needed to apply for your LO licence.
How do I get my LO licence after completing the course?
After receiving your Statement of Attainment, you’ll need to apply directly to WorkSafe Victoria for your LO High Risk Work licence (generally within 60 days). Your instructor can guide you through this process. The WorkSafe licence application is a separate process with additional government fees payable when you lodge (typically via Australia Post).

What does the course include?
Pre-reading materials and a workbook (issued at booking), 2 days of face-to-face training combining theory and hands-on practical exercises with order picker equipment (provided), expert instructor guidance, assessment, and certification. WorkSafe licence application fees are not included.
